The Magician: No Emotional Blocks to Raising Money, Part VIII

The money Magician is the culmination of the archetypes we have talked about in this series, and for me the top one of the top three healthiest archetypes, the others being the Creator/Artist and the Warrior.

As Deborah L.Price puts it,  “The Magician is the ideal money type. Using a new and ever-changing set of dynamics both in the material world and in the world of Spirit, Magicians know how to transform and manifest their own financial reality.  At our best, when we are willing to claim our own power, we are all Magicians.”*  I have found that there are as many different ways of being a money Magician as there are people.  Deborah’s writing about the Magician emphasizes the importance of owning and transforming our personal mythos about money.  I love the image at left of the Magician: I love the coming together of the Western archetypes of the feminine as the grail or chalice and the masculine as the blade. I love the pentagram symbolizing the element of Earth that sustains us all, and the alchemy we must do to thrive on this Earth.
I love the cosmic lemniscate above the Magician’s head: the “infinity symbol.”
I love the coming together of Earth with Heaven in the up-and-down wand and hands of the Magician, and in all when we act from our Magician inside.

I have known money Magicians.  Some I suspect were just “born that way.”  The rest of us get there!  Magicians are fearless about asking for funds–and very loving and even fun-loving when they do it.

They are direct and honest about asks, accounting, and accountability.  And they are creative   “Transforms reality” is the hallmark quality of the Magician.  Creativity with money and other resources makes them Magicians.  They are willing to take an intelligent risk to meet with a new donor or recalcitrant funder without a lot of attachment to “scoring.”  Their emphasis is long-term, which means they allow the short-term to take care of itself!

Magicians thrive on face-to-face asking, even if it’s a private “ask” on Facebook.  (A mass ask using Facebook is not the same thing, ask me about the difference.)

The Magician loves and respects money like any other energy–and knows when to let it go, investing resources wisely to help draw in more for equally wonderful uses. The Magician is my favorite archetype and the one I most wish for you to embody.  Thanks for reading this series!
