How do we learn when it’s time to ask–for money, or whatever else will move our neighborhood of the beloved community to its next level? And how do we learn when it’s a good time not to ask, without feeling weird or inadequate? Our culture loves to push: push us, push stuff on us, push ways of thinking at us. But timing is everything: when are we ripe for a move and when do we need to lie fallow and be quiet? RAISING CLARITY cultivates abundance in divine timing. The signs of divine timing are there, if we know what to look for.
This post gives you a 101 in the “the rhythm method” of figuring out the most fertile times for fundraising or any other support-raising. Here are three clues to look for in yourself, your context, and in the other person concerned–because all raising is really done with just one other person–at a time. Here are the
Three fertility signs:
- Excitement. Readiness. If this sounds suspiciously like the other kind of fertility awareness, that’s because generating change (monetary or transformational) and generating babies happen the same way: by directing your juicy lifeforce toward a noble goal. Your lifeforce is the tiniest fractal of the divine lifeforce within you and everyone involved. That’s why it’s key to watch out for signs of readiness in yourself and the other person involved.
- It feels like a long-term relationship. Again, just as babies prefer a stable environment, so do new ideas, new projects, and new funding relationships. Wait til you’ve stabilized the relationship before taking action that will have irreversible consequences. But don’t make it boring. Stable doesn’t mean boring, it means rich and diverse and dynamic over time.
- Be prepared. “Chance favors the prepared.” Have done your homework. Don’t have five other things on your mind. Have only one. Know what you want–but be open to possibility. Be in that balance. If it’s divinely timed, you can surrender to the moment. Ask–and then step back. Invite, then surrender. It’s a dance, an erotic dance. Be ready for it and know you can never ever be completely ready when it concerns another person–or divine timing. Be willing to be surprised.
Good luck! Tell us how it goes. Remember, fertility is cyclical. If you don’t get results right away, wait a little while and try again! (Best fundraising seasons in general are Spring, Fall, and the winter holidays.)
